As donors and volunteers, the Coopers see the impact of the Food Bank’s work as both personal and hopeful.

“It is shocking that we have people in our own backyard who are struggling and don’t have their basic needs met,” shared Erin. The family has volunteered at the Food Bank before and most recently included their daughter, Jane.

“I heard about the Food Bank from my parents. I joined them to learn more, and I feel good about volunteering,” she said. “We know that there are a lot of people out there in real need, and it felt like the right time for us to get out here to volunteer and donate,” said Kevin. “This is a mission we believe in.”

For Kevin and his family, fighting hunger is also about long-term outcomes. He strongly believes in the idea of food as medicine and sees access to fresh produce as critical to improving health and breaking cycles of hardship.

“We know that there are a lot of people out there in real need, and it felt like the right time for us to get out here to volunteer and donate,” said Kevin. “This is a mission we believe in.”

“Food is the starting place,” Kevin said. “It affects your physical health, your mental health, and whether you feel like you can reach your potential. If you can’t feed yourself or your family, that impact goes so much deeper than people realize.”

As the need for food assistance continues to grow, support has never been more important. Because of donors, we can respond to the increasing demand and help more children, families, and seniors have access to nutritious food. Through their time, generosity, and commitment, the Coopers hope to make a meaningful difference for neighbors facing food insecurity.

“The idea that your dollar can provide three meals leaves people in disbelief. “Where else can you find that kind of return?” he said.
