Finding Support in His Community (Video)
Anthony receives food assistance from the Community Food Center – Marietta to help fill the gap between what he can afford and what he needs.
“I just noticed the name and ‘Food Bank’ really caught my attention.”
He decided to wait until the facility opened and gave it a try. The support has become important as Anthony navigates life on a limited income. After beginning to receive disability benefits, he quickly realized that the money did not go as far as he needed it to.
“The food that’s been really helpful and beneficial to me is eggs, milk, cereal. I just think what they provide is substantial and healthy,” shared Anthony.
Located in Cobb County, where 13% of neighbors experience food insecurity, the Community Food Center – Marietta provides nutritious groceries to 145 households each week, helping individuals and families access the food they need to thrive.
“I feel welcome. I feel a sense of togetherness,” he said.
Today, Anthony sees the food he receives as more than groceries. It is a source of stability at a time when the cost of everyday necessities can make it difficult for people to make ends meet.
