Have you made your resolutions yet?

Time to make New Year’s resolutions! Let’s see…

  1. Eat healthier.
  2. Exercise more.
  3. Be hopeful for the future.
  4. Give back.
  5. Help others do these things.

As we’re looking toward the future, we offer a quick reminder for the present. It’s almost the end of 2011 and you still have time to make one last tax-deductible gift for the year. For every dollar donated to ACFB, we’re able to distribute $8.47 worth of grocery products back into the community. That means a $25 donation becomes $211.75 worth of grocery products. Sounds like a great way to kick off resolution number 4, right?

Speaking of taxes, the Atlanta Prosperity Campaign (APC) is gearing up for another year of tax-assistance with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, a national initiative of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). If your household makes $49,000 or under, you can get your taxes done for free! The APC  works with IRS certified and trained VITA volunteers to  prepare basic tax returns and help working families find  special tax credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and Credit for the Elderly for which they may qualify. To find a VITA location near you, check out APC’s map at www.atlantaprosperity.org.

From all of us at ACFB, we hope you have a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!
