Volunteer Project: Share a meal - By volunteering in our "Sharing a Meal Program" your generosity helps Covenant House Georgia in various ways. The youth love to interact with community organizations, individuals, churches, etc.
Volunteer date(s) and times: Sunday – Friday, flexible dates November 1st - December 31st (including Christmas – we already have Thanksgiving Day volunteer help.) 5:40-7:00 pm. Dinner is from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Sunday through Friday. Please arrive at CHGA with plenty of time to have the food warm and ready to serve at 6. Dinner must be complete by 7 pm so the youth can participate in their evening activities.

Volunteer Position Description: Meal volunteers are groups or individuals who would like to bring and serve a catered meal or prepare a meal onsite to serve to Covenant House GA youth. Meals can be prepared at our shelter, or purchased from a restaurant or professional caterer. This is a wonderful opportunity for individuals, corporations, churches, or other groups.
Please Note: If preparing meals in the shelter, cooking tools and ingredients are limited. We do have staff available for meal preparation if nonperishable food items would like to be donated. WE DO NOT ACCEPT LEFTOVERS – catered meals from professional restaurants or catering companies only, please.
How Many to Feed: Please provide enough food for 25 youth. If you or your group will be eating, please add those numbers to your count as well.
What to Bring: Meals must contain a protein, starch and vegetable. Ask our volunteer coordinator for simple meal ideas (contact information is below). CHGA kitchen provides drinks and paper products. Desserts are always welcome, but not required.

ACFB Agency: Communities in Schools of Atlanta
Volunteer Projects: Promoting annual Toy Drive - This annual toy drive is in partnership with Walmart, featuring a live remote by WAOK 1380 AM. Containers will be available at each entrance for Walmart customers to donate toys. Donated toys will be provided to students at many of the 70 schools in Atlanta/DeKalb that are served by Communities in Schools.
Volunteer date(s) and times: December 7th. Available shift times are 6:00-8:00 am and 4:00 pm-6:00 pm (Mandatory orientation will be held on the morning of either 12/2/Friday or 12/6/Tuesday at around 10:00 am)
About this agency: Communities In Schools surrounds students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Students we serve at these schools face challenging life circumstances, and the vast majority qualify for free or reduced price lunch. Location: Walmart at 1801 Howell Mill Road, NW, Atlanta, GA 30318
Volunteer Position Description: Volunteers are stationed at Walmart entrances, to greet customers and hand out flyers about the toy drive as well as receive donations (which will be placed in large box/container). Periodically, if/when the containers become full, volunteers who are able may be asked to help move donated items to storage vehicle, but this will be rare and there will be other staff members who can do this.
Number of volunteers needed: 10 for each shift
Skills and age requirements: Volunteers should be comfortable greeting potential donors. Volunteers should also be able to stand for a two hour period of time. An orientation will be required, either Friday, December 2 or Tues, Dec. 6 during late morning hours. Specific date and time TBD.
