New Home for Kids In Need

We've got some exciting news! Our Kids In Need free store for teachers is now at home in its newly renovated location. The new shopping floor provides an enhanced experience for thousands of metro area teachers who come to pick up brand new school supplies for their students. Kids In Need Program Manager Barbara Overton is excited about having an additional 7,800 square feet.  "We've now got the capacity to store more product so we'll be able to keep a greater range of school supplies in stock," said Overton. "We're also now able to host more teachers and volunteers at one time." We had a few minutes to talk to some of the teachers as they were shopping, and here's what they had to say:

"This is so great - it's the first time I've been here. I'm impressed with how much product is here and the variety. I'm an art teacher and I'm finding a lot here that I can use."  - Leah Mills, King Elementary, College Park

"The new space is much more open and easy to navigate. And there are more items!" - Sara Burden, Mimosa Elementary, Roswell

"Thank God for Kids In Need. All of  the teachers from my school come. Many of the kids can't afford their own supplies, so every bit helps." - LaShonda Mills, Oak Knoll Elementary, East Point

"I didn't even know this place existed. When I heard about it, I knew I needed to come. The teachers at my school really love it. This is my first time - it's a huge help!" - Janiece Wyche, Fickett Elementary, SW Atlanta

The new Kids In Need free store for teachers is located at 970 Jefferson St., NW Atlanta, GA 30318 (just next door to the Food Bank's main building). For a school to qualify, 80% of the students must participate in the federal free and reduced meal program. The program serves educators who teach grades K-12.
