If you’ve resolved to become a master at cooking, or even just to start cooking, we have something so amazing, it’s almost too good to be true: an ongoing series of cooking classes taught by Atlanta’s finest chefs, all in The Cook’s Warehouse state-of-the-art kitchens. Even better, 100% of the proceeds benefit the hunger relief work of ACFB.

Masa! Masa! Masa!
Chef Chad Clevenger of Alma Cocina
($55, 7-9 p.m. Demonstration & Tasting)

We’re kicking off the New Year with the maestro of Mexican cuisine. Chef Clevenger returns to Simple Abundance to help usher you into 2014 with a culinary bang. He’ll demonstrate how to prepare Chicken Tinga Sope with pico de gallo and cream, Fried Avocado Taco with crispy queso cotija, and Shrimp Huaraches with charred avocado, smoked tomatoes and orange. Chef Jeb Aldrich of 4th & Swift

Experienced and classically trained Chef Jeb Aldrich, who has been working alongside his celebrated dad Chef Jay Swift in 4th & Swift’s kitchen for about four years returns to Simple Abundance. He’ll teach how to prepare a fabulous menu of Sunchoke Soup with candied pancetta, Sapelo Island clams and basil oil; Veal Schnitzel with curried spatzle, local braised greens, quail egg and lingonberry brown butter; and Maple Leaf Farms Duck Breast with sweet potato macaire, roasted turnips and apple celery sauce. Learning to cook with what is available is essential to farm-to-table cuisine. Join Chef Linton Hopkins as he prepares a three course meal based on the "surprise" ingredients of a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) box. As it is in real-life, the menu and ingredients will be unknown to Chef Hopkins until they are delivered straight from the farm but you can bet they’ll be delicious and in season. This class is a must for anyone who enjoys farmers market shopping or belongs to a CSA group. Chef Woody returns now as the Executive Chef at the increasingly popular restaurant Table & Main to demonstrate how to make Shrimp and Plantation Rice Bisque, Anatomy of a Salad, Sorghum Citrus Bird with creamed greens and acorn squash, and Stone Fruit Clafouti for dessert. This class is for all the seafood lovers out there. Attendees will learn how to break down a whole fish, break down a whole lobster, and make fresh pasta as Chef Beatty demonstrates the preparation of:  Crudo (Italian style sushi) of Red Snapper with Sicilian Trinity – Chef Beatty will demonstrate how to break down a whole fish for this dish; Fresh Chittara Pasta with sea urchin roe, lump crab and lobster sauce; Salmon Rillette; and Lobster with burrata, winter citrus and preserved tomato. What better way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day than with Irish culinary classics and beer? Chef Hall will take a fresh look at traditional Irish cuisine but with a modern spin. You may know award winning Chef Tracy Bloom from her television appearances on Bravo’s Top Chef: DC or Lifetime’s Supermarket Superstar, but she is also the co-founder, along with Allergy Coach Brooklyn Cole, of Free Cuisine, a gluten-free and allergy friendly catering and lifestyle consulting company. If you are interested in gluten-free and/or allergy-free cooking, this class is for you. Brooklyn will discuss and answer any food allergy questions you may have and Chef Bloom will teach the class how to make Creamy Vidalia Onion Soup with crispy onion rings, Fried Arancini di Riso – risotto balls, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Heaven Bars.
