On Wednesday, we received a BIG diaper donation from Huggies. How big is big? How about 200,000 diapers big? We can't thank Huggies enough for their donation. There are a lot of mom and dads with children that need diapers. In fact, 1 in 3 moms can't afford new diapers for their child. They've had to miss work or school or even keep their children home from daycare because many child care facilities require a full day's worth of diapers that they didn't have. Many of our partner agencies, like Sheltering Arms, are in need of diapers for their families and we couldn't be more thrilled for this donation.
As more people struggle to put food on the table, the need for household and personal hygiene items has become more prevalent. In fact, 44% of our agencies responded to our agency study saying the need for non-food items has grown. Things like toothpaste, deodorant, soap, diapers, paper products, cleaning supplies are so needed, in fact, that it was the single biggest category mentioned in our agency study. Non-food items can’t be purchased with food stamps which makes it even harder.
We're happy to announce we're launching non-food product drives. It's another great way to donate to the Food Bank and help us get these items to those that need it.
