Volunteer with Kids In Need

All volunteers must register with the volunteer contact at least one week in advance. See our Frequently Asked Questions for guidelines.

Volunteers are needed as shopping assistants in the afternoon and to help with a wide array of sorting and restocking projects in the morning. This is ideal for individuals or small groups. Ages 16 and up.

  • Afternoon shopping assistants:
    • Shopping Assistants are asked to commit to a 3 hour shift either once a week or once every two weeks for one or more semesters.
    • There are two semesters each year, August - December and January - May (volunteers can start at any point during the school year).
    • Shifts run Mondays through Thursdays, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm.
  • Morning volunteer groups of 1-15 people:
    • Shifts run Mondays through Fridays, 9:00 am - 12:00pm.

Safety Guidelines

  • Ages:
    16 years and older. Adults must accompany high school age and younger.
  • Clothing:
    All volunteers must wear closed-toed shoes.
  • Other:
    • This project is not appropriate for those who cannot do moderate lifting (20-40 lbs) or stand for prolonged periods.
    • If any special accommodations are needed, please contact the volunteer contact one week in advance of the scheduled visit.
