The Tapestry Garden is located on seven acres of land in historic Ormewood Park in East Atlanta. It is used to grow fresh produce for women with children ages five and under who are participating in the WIC (Women with Infants and Children) federal nutrition program.  The garden was made possible by a neighborhood group which bought the land 40 years ago, the Tapestry Land Association, and the Community Gardens project of the Atlanta Community Food Bank.  The neighbors who own the land decided collectively that they wanted to put it to use for something that would benefit others beyond their community, and asked the Food Bank if they would be interested. The answer was a resounding "yes"!  The vegetables grown in the Tapestry WIC Garden are given to the WIC recipients at special WIC Farmers Markets in Marietta and Douglasville throughout the growing season. All the women must do to receive the produce is turn in a special WIC market voucher.
