Find your nearest drop off point to make a Plant A Row donation. If you live outside the metro Atlanta area, click here to find state wide drop off locations.
How Does Plant a Row Work?
Atlanta gardeners are encouraged to plant an extra row of veggies in their gardens and donate the extra produce directly to one of the designated drop-off sites throughout metro Atlanta. Click here for a list of drop-off sites. These agencies distribute food from your garden to residents in your community who need it. Many donations also come from gardeners who simply have extra veggies they don’t want to see go to waste.
Now, Even More People Will Know About Plant a Row!
Our thanks to Publix Super Markets and CBS Local/Atlanta radio stations who are helping us get the word out this year. Listen to V-103, WAOK or dave fm to hear more about the program and about some special days when designated Publix Super Markets will be giving away free seed packets! See the list of locations and dates for the seed give-aways here.
Plant a Row for the Hungry Results for 2011:
106,292 pounds!
We are grateful to everyone who participated in the 2011 Plant a Row for the Hungry season. This was our most successful season since we joined the campaign in 1996! The Plant a Row for the Hungry campaign was launched nationally in 1995 by the Garden Writers Association of America.
Who Can Help?
Individuals
Click here to find out where to donate your surplus vegetables, fruit, herbs and flowers to any one of our hunger-fighting organizations. Agencies are listed by county, along with the days and times they accept donations.
Groups
Organize a multi-garden donation or, as some garden clubs have done, grow a demonstration/education garden and donate the crops.
Businesses
Your business or employer can contribute in-kind or financial donations to support our Community Gardens Project/Plant a Row campaign. We would like to be able to provide free seeds to Plant a Row gardeners and distribute promotional materials at garden centers.
