--Smoltz to Sign Up To 300 Autographs in Under An Hour--

ATLANTA (March 29, 2007)
-

The Atlanta Braves Foundation and Pitcher John Smoltz will team up with the Atlanta Community Food Bank to host a special benefit autograph session in an effort to collect canned food items and cash donations for those in need in Atlanta and North Georgia, on Sunday, April 15, from 11 - noon, at Turner Field's Monument Grove.

WHY SHOULD I MAKE A PLEDGE?

More than 1 million Georgians are living in poverty - the equivalent of more than 20 sold-out games at Turner Field. (U.S. Census Bureau, 2006)

HOW DOES THIS PROGRAM MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

The 2006 campaign raised more than $50,000 and more than 10,000 pounds of food to benefit the Food Bank.

WHAT IS THE IMPACT OF MY PLEDGE?

$1 equals $6.20 worth of goods and services the Food Bank can invest into the community (Atlanta Community Food Bank, 2007)

WHERE CAN I LEARN MORE?

Visit www.ACFB.org, www.Atlanta.Braves.com or call (404) 892-3333, Ext. 1246.

Hundreds of fans are expected to line up hours before the Braves match-up against the Marlins to receive Smoltz's autograph. For every 20 cans of food or $20 donated by each fan, they will receive one autograph on a sports item brought from home (limit two autographs per person).

Smoltz's autograph session is part of a long-time commitment to fighting hunger and supporting the Food Bank, an Atlanta-based regional hunger-relief organization that distributes food and needed products to 38 metro Atlanta and North Georgia counties. Besides the autograph-signing sessions, Smoltz, who launched his Strike Out Hunger campaign in 1997, also offers a separate autograph campaign for collectors.

Limited edition photographs, baseballs, official Smoltz Braves Jerseys and gloves are some of the many items that are also available to patrons ranging from $25 to $1250. Unlike the autograph sessions, that allow supporters to bring any item from home for Smoltz to sign, the collector's program caters to those willing to invest in high-profile collection pieces. Supporters can call (404) 892-FEED or visit www.ACFB.org to order collector's items. Additionally, Smoltz made a commitment to pledge $100 dollars of his own personal income to the Food Bank for every strikeout he makes during this year's 2007 baseball season.
