Each fall, The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta announces its Managing for Excellence Award. Only one local nonprofit is granted this award in any given year. The Atlanta Community Food Bank was selected by The Community Foundation as the 2007 winner. Among the key characteristics noted were the deep commitment of both staff and board to the mission of the Food Bank, consistent delivery on what the mission promises, successful resource development, good stewardship and commitment to excellence.
The mission of the Atlanta Community Food Bank is to fight hunger by engaging, educating and empowering the community.
