  Usher Encourages Youth to Help

The kids at Usher’s Camp New Look have a message for their peers:

"Help Someone ... Volunteer!"

Usher, Camp New Look and ACFB StaffThat message will soon be seen by Cartoon Network viewers across the U.S. in a public service announcement taped and produced by New Look campers right here at the Food Bank in late July. The spot features Usher, special friends and several of the camp attendees.

The taping was completed in one day, but the day was about much more than the production - it was a full day of service, including an interactive Hunger 101 course, a tour of the Food Bank’s warehouse and a volunteer session sorting and packing food boxes.

Camp New Look Sorting At The Product Rescue Center "These kids experienced first-hand the meaning behind their message," said ACFB Interim Volunteer Manager Barbara Prevost. "I believe they left the Food Bank with a new understanding of the causes of hunger and a sincere motivation to fight hunger in their own communities."

Two Participants in Camp New LookAs the Camp New Look attendees learned, Food Banks are wonderful places to volunteer. "We love it when young people want to help," said Prevost. "We can accommodate volunteers as young as age 8!"
